General Welfare
Under this action point, ZA achieved the following:

A skill acquisition center was built and equipped at the Shagamu Correction Center, Ogun State in 2011.

A set of 1000 ZA branded exercise books was donated to Ikoyi Correction center in support of the inmates’ continuing education quest in 2008.

GCE forms were acquired for inmates of Ikoyi Correction center in 2010.

ZA end of year celebrations held in the Medium and Ikoyi Correction centers n Lagos State in 2008 and 2009 respectively and in Shagamu Correction center in Ogun State in 2010 and 2011. The ZA celebration is marked with free food and drinks to all inmates of the centers.

Officials of ZA have since 2005 consistently worked with the Lagos State Judiciary in the Chief Judge’s Correction centers’ decongestion program during which the released inmates are assisted by ZA officials to resettle with their families.

ZA welfare teams undertake approved monthly visits to various correction centers in Nigeria.
Under this action point, ZA champions a multi-pronged welfare based service format to the inmates and staff of correction centers notably,

Reform based counseling and teaching programs to inmates as a necessary tool to position them for better lives upon their release.

General welfare programs relating to health and health rights of the inmates, water, education, sports, environment, HIV/AIDS etc.

Other relevant inmate and staff welfare based services.
